Hamish does all of the stables’ farrier work which is one of the most important contributors to success for any racing stable. This means he can make any corrective shoeing changes as required.
Hamish comes from a farming background. He grew up in the Wanganui and Manawatu areas. He worked for Malcolm Smith while still at school. He then worked for the late Noel Eales for two years and was an assistant trainer to Alistair Good.
Hamish spent time working in the South Island and was a senior staff person for top South Island trainer Michael Pitman.
After returning to the Manawatu, Hamish held an owner/trainer’s licence during the time he was milking cows.
He then moved to Matamata and was foreman for leading trainer Katrina Alexander before going into his own business in partnership with
Karyn.
